Vi ska snart kolla på film, men först tänkte jag att ni skulle få en lång intervju med Chris Weitz :D

  

What was your biggest fear going into [opening] weekend?
CHRIS WEITZ: I didn’t have any particular fears. The tracking numbers were enough to indicate that I wouldn’t be letting the studio down. But if one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie, by the fans. What I’ve realized over the last week is I won’t necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.

Did the negative reviews surprise you?
Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews. Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing. And given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it’s rather unsurprising. I do wish there was more appreciation for cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I think he’s a genius and I think he made something beautiful.

A lot of fans say they like the movie more than the book, that New Moon was their least favorite book in the series.
New Moon takes a lot of time to read and you have a lot of time without Edward in the picture. And here in the compressed scenario of the movie, there is less time without RPatz. And the fact that Taylor [Lautner] does such a great job, to the reading audience who’s been very skeptical of him, here he is in the flesh, and it’s quite something.

What do you think is Taylor’s best scene?
When he jumps into Bella’s room. There is so much pathos there even though it’s melodrama, there’s something touching about it. Or maybe the last moment he has, just when he says Bella’s name. You sort of understand just how crushed he is at that moment. There are a few times where he’s absolutely that guy and it’s really lovely. He’s that guy for the fans and that’s what I always thought he could do.

Do you think Kristen evolved as an actor in this movie?
I’m not sure she evolved as much as she had room to run. She’s a thoroughbred as far as actors go. To me, she can do know wrong. The experience of working with her and the caliber of work she was doing was pretty extraordinary. Let’s put aside girl in love with a vampire, her ability to manifest these emotions below the surface, above the surface just to get things right. She’s extraordinarily exacting of herself and in those moments where I was able to give her the room to do that are things I’m very proud of.  That’s a high point.

You made the movie you wanted to here?
Yes, pretty much. In terms of what I wanted to do with the gloss of the picture, the look of the picture, I’m very satisfied with it. And satisfied to touch back with the crew and the actors and to feel we made it under humane conditions as well. No actors were harmed in the making of this movie.

What about dealing with the paparazzi? Did you have any run-ins?
I did a bit of a Sean Penn at LAX. When we were leaving for the European tour. We had left from our L.A press junket to go to LAX and someone nearly ran us off the road trying to get to one of the cars. We were followed by eight different vans and there was some really dangerous driving. And I understood for the first time how things happened to Princess Diana (I don’t think I’m Princess Diana), and I understood for the first time why celebrities lash out and what’s that about. My first thought upon getting out of the car was, “Who was that driver of the car?” I never found him, but I did lift someone by the hood. A photographer. He was in my way. They have a legal right to be there but they don’t have an ethical right, and he was obstructing my path, and there was someone else I threatened to knock their teeth out. It’s not like me but I felt very protective at that moment and very attacked. There is a huge difference between the attention of the paparazzi and the attention of the fans. The fans have been lovely. The paparazzi in my opinion are a very low form of primate.

Skolan slut för idag och det är fredag!

Jag vet att det är många av er som undrar om Midninght Sun kommer att bli klar och vi har igentligen inget bra svar på det. Det bästa hade väll varit om Stephenie själv hade svarat på det eller hur?! Det har hon gjort, för hon fick ca 2000 frågor från TheTwilightsaga.com och en av de frågorna var om Midnight Sun och såhär är hennes svar:

I’ve found that there really isn’t any answer I can give that changes the substance or tenor of the myriads of requests, pleadings, and demands I get for Midnight Sun to be finished, so I feel a little silly answering that question at all. But it’s the most popular question, so I’ll take another stab at it.

I am not working on Midnight Sun now. I don’t have a plan for when I’ll get to it; I don’t know now what the right time for it will be.

In your questions, there were some erroneous conclusions about the situation which I’ll try to set straight. First, Midnight Sun is not finished and locked in a safe, waiting for me to be done angsting over the leak. If it were done, I would be throwing it on the bookstore shelves myself. I’d love to be able to give it to all the people who are anxiously waiting for it. Second, I am not upset about the leak. I haven’t been for a long time; I was over it after about three weeks. Third, and most important, I am not trying to punish anyone. Not the persons who leaked it, not the people who read the leak, nobody. As I said, it would make me very happy to be able to give it to anyone who wants it.

So why the hold up? Because it’s not finished and lying in a safe. It’s not done, and finishing it is not a simple matter of sitting down in front of my computer and typing out the words; the words have to be there in my head to type out, and right now, they’re not. I have to be in the zone to write any story, and trying to force myself into that zone is a waste of time, I’ve found. I’ll get back to Midnight Sun when the story is compelling to me again. Just because people want it so badly does not make it more write-able; kind of the opposite, actually. I need to be alone with a story to write, and Midnight Sun feels really crowded, if you know what I mean.

Vi tar och börjar med en liten artikel med Ashley Greene, hon är med i december numret av MAXIM.

Det står lite om Eclipse där, här kommer översättning:

Hon landade i sin första stora roll i Twilight: "Åh, my god, jag ville ha denna rollen så mycket! Jag arbetade jätte hårt eftersom jag absolut älskade Alice, min karaktär. Hon är söt, sexig! så när de sa att jag fick rollen, försökte jag att spela cool, du vet, i ungefär en minut. Eftersom plötsligt började Twilight bloggarna att  snappa upp det, och då fans fans med bilder där, och jag var på nyheterna, och jag tänkte: "Vad?" Och sen blev jag verkligen nervös. "

Om fysisk träning för Eclipse: "Ja, jag får kämpa i Eclipse. Min tränare lär mig MMA just nu. Så coolt. Men jag känner att om jag skulle vara i en riktig kamp, skulle jag få stryk ... Vi ska just börja med lite mer avancerade saker, mot att kunna faktiskt sparka spöa någon. Problemet är, jag kan Tae Kwon Do, så jag är van att bara poäng när jag sparkar, men MMA är en fullständig knock-dem-till-marken avslut. "

LA Times har en bra artikel om Summit Entertainment Mega framgång med "Twilight Saga". Kalla det vad ni vill, men jag tror att vi TwiFolk äntligen har  kommit, eftersom siffrorna inte ljuger.

När man räknar in både den ursprungliga filmen's $ 383.8 miljoner  och det som New Moon har dragit in och kommer att dra in i hela världen räknar man att så småning om komma upp i 700 miljoner dollar eller mer och då kommer Summit Entertainment snart finna sig själv att ha den största äkta oberoende film franchisen i nutidshistorien.

Indie Studios har sällan, om någonsin haft en sådan mysig franchise spargris. Så när en indie studio har ett dåligt år, är det verkligen ett dåligt år. Det är därför i Miramax dagar, skapade bröderna Weinstein den genre-baserade Dimension division, som gav Bob Weinstein möjlighet att utveckla sådana Kassakor som "Scary Movie" franchise, i "Scream"-serien och "Spy Kids" sagan. Dito för Lionsgate med sin långvariga "Saw" horror showcase. Dock har även de sex "Saw" filmerna skakatt upp en imponerande $ 711.8 miljoner i hela världen, är det troligt att Summit, med bara de två första filmerna i "Twilight"-serien kommer att lämna "Saw" i dess kölvatten. Det betyder inte att  Summits framtid är säkrad. Studion så småningom kommer att behöva bevisa att det är mer än ett one-trick pony.

Ja vi hoppas väll på att de ska få ihop de här siffrorna så att vi kan visa världen att vi fans verkligen är trogna filmerna och böckerna. Det är helt fantastisk att de skulle kunna bli den största äkta oberoende film franschisen i nutidshistorien!
